General Election 2019
During the 2019 General Election campaign, over 1,500 people supported our calls for the new Government to make vital improvements for stroke treatment and care. In the coming months, we'll be sharing these with new MPs to help persuade them to make stroke one of their top priorities.
General Election 2017
During the 2017 General Election campaign, we called for a new era for stroke. Our manifesto called on candidates to pledge their support to drive forward improvements in stroke treatment and care.
We had a total number of 133 candidates support our campaign to ensure stroke remains a priority for the new parliament, with 25 of those candidates being successfully elected.

Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland elections
In the run up to the May 2016 elections in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, we asked our supporters to contact their candidates calling on them to commit to a set of key actions to help prevent strokes.
In Northern Ireland 60 candidates pledged their support and 26 are now elected as MLAs. In Scotland 38 candidates pledged their support and 14 are now elected MSPs.

Support from clinical leaders in stroke
On 14 November 2016 clinical leaders in stroke put out a statement in support of a renewed national focus on stroke which covered the need for new treatments, improved post-acute care and prevention.
This was co-signed by 19 clinical bodies' right across the stroke care pathway and demonstrated the need for a new National Stroke Programme following the end of the national stroke strategy.
